My name is Peggy Hedgren, also known as The Gluten-Free Guru. I was born and raised on the North Side of Chicago, in a family of Swedish and German descent. Food was always a big part of my family life, but late in life, I found I had celiac disease, a condition that attacks the immune system. Going back to school for nutrition, I discovered the link between food and my condition. By educating myself and learning how to heal with my autoimmune disorder, I successfully maintain my good health and well-being, and specifically how it relates to foods once consumed in the body. Now living in the Texas Hill Country, I have created this easy to follow cookbook to help others who have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or food allergies.
